Evaluation and research can play a critical role in helping us develop more effective responses to complex social challenges.
To be effective, monitoring and evaluation needs to be driven by curiosity about whether and how we're making a difference, and a desire to learn how we can be more effective. Monitoring and evaluation should help organisations learn more about the social challenges they’re trying to address and what’s important to the people they’re trying to impact. It should help organisations understand what’s working and in what circumstances, and provide practical insights about opportunities for adaptation and improvement.
By involving key stakeholders and people with lived experience, and using complexity and systems thinking, our evaluation support helps organisations:
critically reflect on your work and the environment you’re working in
identify and make sense of patterns and trends
understand your contribution at different levels, including for people and organisations, relationships and power, society and culture
recognise many different factors contributing to change
reflect on the connections between short term outcomes and long term change
adapt and improve as you go.
